Garage sale generates $3000 for Men's Shed

The Umina Beach Men's Shed has raised just over $3000 to support its operation through a garage-shed sale held in Woy Woy last month.

Coranavirus restrictions had ruled out the Umina CWA Hall, the normal location for the annual sale, according to Men's Shed secretary Mr Vic Brown.

"We were fortunate that the 'Auto Barn' facility in Charlton St, Woy Woy, allowed the Shed to use their yard and facilities for a pop-up Gara/Shed Sale."

Eight Shed members were involved in organising and running the day.

The sale opened at 7am and closed at 3.30pm, followed by a half hour clean-up and reloading the remaining merchandize into the trailers, Mr Brown said.

"Social distancing, log in-log out, sanitizing were in the system all day and our customers willingly complied.

"New homes were found for several trailer loads of tools and equipment and the funds generated returned to the Shed.

"We moved a lot of merchandise.

"There were heaps of small items at very low prices."
