'Huge' rewards from re-opening community hall
The decision of The Bays Community Group committee to re-open the community hall has resulted in "huge" rewards, according to group president Ms Gwennyth Weir.
"Covid restrictions changed our daily lives dramatically and many of us were missing The Bays social gatherings.
"After a few months of restrictions, the committee was determined to explore ways for the community to come together again safely," she said.
"A team of people spent three days doing a mammoth clean of the community hall.
"Every surface, wall and ceiling, and the contents of every cupboard, was washed in hot soapy water and then cleaned with disinfectant.
"Without this effort, we would not have been able to open the hall at all.
"But we are not complacent and we are continually mindful of everyone's safety and well-being.
"We have trained Covid marshalls in attendance and conduct a Covid clean of the hall after every event."
She said: "It's difficult to see the positives that have come out of the Covid crisis, but maybe this is one small one.
"We have been coming together once again and enjoying each other's company, albeit in a different way.
"We have had an opportunity to meet numerous new residents of The Bays as well as residents who have lived here for some time but never been to a Bays event before."
