Art and craft classes set to resume
The Ettalong Beach Arts and Crafts Centre is hoping to be able to have classes returning in February, according to centre president Mr Peter Mulholland.
He said that, while term dates had been set, classes would need to abide by coronavirus distancing, hygiene and Council and government requirements.
"In January, there will be the usual planning meeting for the year.
"By this time we should have a good indication from Council whether we can proceed with classes in the previous format.
"The annual exhibition and sale should proceed as scheduled in October and the community centre booking has been made.
"I am confident of a successful return," Mr Mulholland said.
Term 1 will be from February 1 to March 26.
Term 2 will be from April 19 to June 18.
Term 3 will be from July 12 to September 10.
Term 4 will be from October 11 to December 10.
"In the case of public holidays coinciding with a class, the tutors will arrange make up classes," Mr Mulholland said.
He said the centre's committee meetings had continued with its monthly meetings, being held outside the centre under the pergola "which has enabled us to keep the required distance and take advantage of being in the open air".
Some classes had been able to run, including a pottery class which produce a range of work in the last few weeks.
The results showed colours produced just with tinted coloured clay and with oxide stains enhancing the patterns etched into the clay.
Mr Mulholland said: "We have been the fortunate recipients of donations from members of the community.
"One was a quantity of fabrics to be used as deemed suitable for either our patchwork or stitchery classes.
"A Singer sewing machine is the other item.
"The machine would need a professional service and is available to anyone interested buying it for a modest offer."
Anyone interested should contact the centre by email or by phoning 0412 155 391.
