At 101, Joyce still lives in her own home

Vera Joyce Tee (nee Nash) celebrated her 101st birthday on Monday, December 7, at her home in Umina Beach with a small gathering of family and friends, over the Sunday and Monday.

Joyce, as she prefers to be called, was born in Canowindra NSW in 1919, one of nine children.

She was the youngest daughter but the middle child.

Joyce and her husband Reg moved to Umina Beach in 1964 to provide two of their four children with a career.

Their son Colin passed away in 1980 and she lost her husband Reg in 1993.

She has three surviving children, daughter Zoane and sons Frank and Don, and six grandchildren and 15 great grandchilden.

"Joyce is a stalwart of the Ettalong Uniting Church, still attending regularly on a Sunday morning, until Covid prevented the Church services," said daughter-in-law Ms Susan Tee.

"She thanks all those around her who have helped to get her to this amazing milestone - her local GP Dr Michael Crookes; her good friend Robin; Anne and Sharon from Legacy for their never ending support; girls from Kincare who come daily to look after her; her family and her faith in God.

"Joyce still lives in her own home and is bright as a button," said Ms Tee.

"She still cooks and enjoys shopping but absolutely loves having friends and family come to visit."
