Lions teams defeated in first round
Five Woy Woy Lions teams were defeated when the first round of the Central Coast Rugby Union 2020 season went ahead on Saturday, July 18.
In its Premier 1 game, the Terrigal Trojans had a 70-nil win over the Lions at Woy Woy Oval.
However, Central Coast Rugby Union president Mr Larry Thomson said: "Woy Woy were far from disgraced.
"They know they played last year's Premiers first up and they will get stronger as the year progresses," he said.
Terrigal crossed the try line 10 times throughout the match, with fly-half, Adam Danckert converting all 10 tries.
Despite even play in the first quarter, Terrigal soon dominated the match and the teams went to half time 35-nil, he said.
Mr Thomson said Woy Woy did not stop trying for the entire 80 minutes.
"Woy Woy were best served by back Wade Hannell who gave everything all day."
In Premiere 2, Terrigal beat Woy Woy 54-12.
In the Presidents Cup, Terrigal again beat Woy Woy, 50-12.
In the Women's game, Terrigal also defeated Woy Woy, 59-12.
In the Colts, Hornsby Rugby Club won against Woy Woy by 27-7.
