Christmas in July raises money for Mary Mac's Place
The Rotary Club of Woy Woy met on Tuesday, July 14, for a "Christmas in July" dinner at Everglades Country Club.
They brought with them donations for Mary Mac's Place, which provides support and meals for the homeless, transient and disadvantaged.
"Our Christmas in July event was an excuse to drag out the tinsel, fairy lights and gaudy outfits and have some fun," said club president Ms Joan Redmond.
"Although a Covid-Christmas meant no hugs, handshakes or group photos, we truly appreciated what we had; good food, plenty of laughter and the opportunity to be together.
"We ditched the idea of giving Secret Santa gifts to each other and instead directed our giving to help those in our community who needed a helping hand.
"We heard that Mary Mac's Place wanted to stock their pantry so they could continue to provide daily take-away meals and rescue food for the needy.
"Our members donated a car-load of supplies, both fresh and long-life.
"Perishable food was refrigerated overnight and, on Wednesday morning, we delivered the donations to a very grateful Mary Mac's."
