Exhibition at Ettalong
The works of a Pearl Beach artist will be featured in an exhibition in Ettalong during August.
The Waterline Art Gallery at the Republik Cafe will host the exhibition of nearly 30 of the works of Ms Marijke Greenway, inspired by her travels around Australia with late husband, John.
She said her aim was to capture the beauty of the land, from the oceans to the desert.
Cafe owner Mr Wolfgang Zichy said Ms Greenway, born in Holland and raised in South Africa, came to Australia in 1988.
"Eventually she focussed on oils, watercolours and acrylic painting techniques.
"Marijke has tutored for over 20 years and has shown her artwork in both group and solo exhibitions, and has contributed to art magazines and newspapers.
"Besides in her gallery in Pearl Beach, Marijke Greenway has shown her work for over a decade at the Palm House in Sydney's Botanic Garden as well as the Royal Easter Show.
"Her latest passion is encaustic painting.
"For this, Marijke hardens beeswax with resin, and mixes in coloured oil pigments.
"The hot substance is spread on boards in layers and fused one at a time with fire.
"The result is a shiny enamel like surface with lends itself to abstraction."
