Councillors give themselves a pay rise

Surprise, surprise. Central Coast councillors have given themselves a pay rise.

It was not the least amount they could have received or even half the amount.

No, it was the full, go for broke, 100 percent rate.

At this time, when thousands have lost their job or had their hours cut, regardless of their suffering, the councillors take the money.

Now, of course, our hard-working, nose-to-the-grindstone representatives have not been idle.

While some of us have been wondering where our next meal is coming from, they have been hard at it.

Look at some of their achievements - lots more non-complying building applications approved; devising plans and having meetings to resolve the beach erosion at Wamberal and other parts of the coastline without doing anything to fix it; approving plans for a $7 million roundabout at Ettalong.

How can a roundabout cost anywhere near that amount?

No, my fellow ratepayers they have not been idle - the list is extensive.

I just think that in these hard times a little constraint would have gone a long way.
