Ferry service disrupted

The Palm Beach ferry service was disrupted for three days due to heavy seas.

Fantasea Palm Beach Ferries announced through social media on Monday, July 13, that the ferry would be diverted to Patonga due to the weather predicted to accompany the East Coast Low over the following three days, through to Thursday, July 16.

"Our Ettalong and Wagstaffe service has been diverted to Patonga due to heavy three to six metre swells for the next three days.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this diversion may cause."

A "service disruption notification" on the company's website stated the diversion was "due to

inclement sea conditions: forecasted: strong SSW 30 to 50km/h strong to near gale winds and SE three to six metre rough swells".

"This exceeds the company's safe-operating guidelines for the service."

The announcement said services would run to full schedule, but warned of "possible full cancellations of all services should conditions worsen and safety to passengers, crew and vessels be compromised."
