Council is removed from realities of the times

No doubt about our council.

While Australia is facing the worst economic crisis ever and tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs; while numerous unemployed tenants are facing eviction and many landlords are no longer able to service their investment loans; while many corporations and businesses are facing liquidation and bankruptcies, and millions of people are seeking help with their power bills, what has our council done?

It has decided to increase our rates by the maximum percentage allowed by the state government and our esteemed councilors are seeking an increase in their already generous allowances.

How disgusting and how far removed from the realities of these difficult times.
