Southern and Ettalong United suffer narrow loss

Southern and Ettalong United Football Club suffered a narrow 3-2 loss to Killarney District Soccer Club in Round Three of Central Coast Football Premier League competition on Sunday, July 19.

"Killarney started the game with a bang," said Central Coast Football digital content co-ordinator Ms Jess Zavolokin.

"The team in the first minute and setting the scene for what was to be a highly energetic match," she said.

"Despite the rocky start for the away side, Southern and Ettalong United's efforts did not go unnoticed as they fought hard to create many scoring opportunities, only to have their efforts just miss the mark.

"Killarney snuck in another goal just before the first half drew to a close, showing their ability to bounce back with bite after their loss last week to Terrigal United.

"Southern's James Lepre was able to score twice in the second half after a series of great leads, bringing both teams neck-and-neck.

"The latter minutes of the game showed a tiring Southern and Ettalong United team let the winning goal from Killarney past them, after what was an impressive run from the clever squad."
