Ken Young is Everglades major singles bowls champ

Ken Young has defeated John Donahue in the major singles championship at Everglades Bowling Club on Saturday, July 18.

The game went ahead after a four-month delay due to the social restrictions put in place in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Club publicity officer Mr John Orme said the game went Ken's way early on after he was able to get ahead with a 13-nil lead.

John fought back in the middle stages of the game and contested Ken's lead, he said.

However, he was unable to turn the tide of the match and, in the end, Ken won 31-14, Mr Orme said.
