More important problems that need rectification

I, for one, wouldn't want my name tagged to the expenditure of $7 million for building a new roundabout at Picnic Pde, Ettalong ("Crouch defends need for $7 million roundabout" Peninsula News 498).

More so, when it is blatantly obvious that there are far more important problems within the Peninsula that need rectification.

For $7 million, you could comfortably build 23 four-bedroom, two-bathroom and double garage homes on government-owned land, therefore providing housing for roughly 100 people.

The $7 million is a lot to spend on a giant blob of concrete when surely public safety could be well achieved with a set of traffic lights, similar to those at Daleys Point.

Regardless of whether we vote Liberal or Labor, it is our taxes that are paying the bill and our government representatives should pay greater attention as to where our taxpayers money is going.
