Umina takes out men's triples
A team from Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club has taken out the inaugural triples competition for the year in an event shared between Club Umina and Marylands RSL Club.
Umina hosted the event on February 27 with 18 teams taking to the greens.
"The competition was played on good greens in great weather and was very competitive," said club publicity officer Mr Colin Mew.
"After each team played three games the competition was so even there was only one team that had three wins.
"By the end of the day Umina's Ross McIntyre, Michael O'Sullivan and Ian Dickson had edged ahead of the pack with three wins to their names to take out the competiton," Mr Mew said.
Mr Mew said that event organisers were encouraged by the turn out and expected to see an increase in teams for the March 27 competition.
"There will be three greens available for the March event enabling a maximum of 42 teams to play so there will be plenty of green space available for any team wishing to enjoy a great day of bowls," Mr Mew said.
