Canteen receives award for sustainability

Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus canteen has received an award for sustainability for its practices in Term 4 last year.

"Following on from the outstanding Year 7 project-based learning on a sustainable school, we are excited to announce more success with our school canteen being named the 2018 Term 4 Green Canteen winners for the Central Coast," said acting campus principal Mr Adam Montgomery.

"Michelle Parker, canteen supervisor, and our Student Representative Council have embraced our student project initiatives with replacing plastic cutlery and serving plates with recyclable cardboard and bamboo cutlery, and our worm farm is up and running recycling our food scraps."
