Students take part in anti-bullying show

Students from all years at Woy Woy Public School participated in a live educational theatre show on February 28.

School principal Ms Ona Buckley said The Protectors was an "anti-bullying resource that teaches students important life lessons about resilience, perseverance and managing adversity, especially when dealing with bullying".

"Using research-based strategies, The Protectors and their Protector Tools aim to help students learn how to handle bullies and understand how they can intervene safely to support children who are being bullied.

"It was our hope that participating students will come to appreciate that all people deserve to be treated with kindness and respect," Ms Buckley said.

The cost of the show was covered by the school, saving students $5 each.

"Woy Woy Public School made a commitment to cover the cost of this initiative, and our Parents and Carers Group also agreed to contribute $1 per child to the cost of the performances.

"Reducing the number of bullying incidents and enabling our students to feel safe and secure is of paramount importance.

"These anti-bullying workshops are an important vehicle for achieving this," Ms Buckley said.
