Bikes, shopping trolleys and phones found under wharf

Bikes, shopping trolleys, camping chairs and an assortment of mobile phones were just some of the items removed from under the Woy Woy Wharf in a clean-up on March 3.

The day was coordinated by Liberal candidate for Gosford Ms Sue Dengate.

"In an hour, we recovered several shopping trollies, two bikes and a variety of other items," Ms Dengate said.

"There were still more trollies to recover but we had to finish before the ferry returned.

"We will be back."

Ms Dengate said: "As a scuba diving instructor, all our waterways are very important to me.

"Every two months I lead an underwater ocean clean-up, but it was many years ago that I last participated in a clean-up at Woy Woy."

Ms Dengate said had been at least 15 years since a clean-up had taken place around the wharf and she hoped to introduce a more regular clean-up in future.
