Blues and Roots competition to be held in Umina

Blues and Roots musicians and fans are expected to descend on Umina in April to attend the Central Coast Jazz, Blues and Roots Competition.

The competition will be held on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, from 6pm on each day at the Treble Clef Cafe.

Musicians Jane Germaine, Linda Campbell, Kristine Best, Stonefish, Muma Jane and Driftwood will perform on April 5, while Peter Healy, Top Cat, Blues Angels, Peter Tos, Short n Curly and Velvet Blue will perform on April 6.

Organiser Mr Alfredo Zotti said: "The Central Coast has become an important location for Blues and Roots.

"We now have quite a few important events each year that place the Coast in a strategic position to become the Australian capital of the genre," he said.

All acts in the competition will have their songs played on the Ross M. Fear Alive 90.5 Australian Spectrum Show and have the opportunity to record an extended single of four songs.

The winner will get the master copy of their four songs and a specially-designed CD cover with artwork and 20 finished copies of the CD and will receive a discount voucher for any professional recording that they may decide to take," Mr Zotti said.

The winner will be announced at the Hardys Bay Community Club on April 7.

A cover charge applies to those attending the competition.
