Health pretext for commercial branding
Coca Cola Marketers aim to poke their logo in the face of the public at every opportunity.
Their influence has penetrated Gosford Council staff.
Council's occupational health and safety coordinator said Council had a sun protection program to supply the protective clothing to its outdoor workers (Express Advocate, October 21).
The Coca Cola logo is printed on jackets that Gosford Council's employees are coerced into wearing on public land on the pretext that they are at risk from exposure to the sun.
Providing employees with safer working conditions is important but it is not honourable to expose public servants to the indignity of being branded with commercial advertising of foreign-controlled products that contribute mightily to obesity in Australia.
