Tom Waugh dies

Woy Woy community stalwart, Mr Tom Waugh, died last month at the age of 85.

Mr Waugh lived in Woy Woy from the mid 1950s.

He opened a dry cleaning business and was a member of the Woy Woy Chamber of Commerce.

He was a charter member of the Woy Woy Lions Club, while being heavily involved with St Davids Presbyterian Church, Woy Woy Sea Scouts and Woy Woy Swimming Club.

He was also instrumental in the building of the Girl Guide hall in Blackwall Rd and Umina rock pool.

Mr Waugh was born in Cessnock and before opening the Woy Woy dry cleaning business was in the building trade, radio and the RAAF.

In the air force, he was an aviation mechanic during WWII.

He also had an interest in farming and the hotel trade.

Mr Waugh is survived by wife Yvonne, children Suzette, Garry, Riki and Jennifer, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
