New BMX track completed

Umina's new BMX track has been completed and is now open to the public.

The BMX track is part of the Gosford Council's Umina Oval and Foreshore Masterplan.

The council's Jeremy MacAnally, a keen BMX rider who competes at state level, designed the track.

The design allows for all standards of riders from beginner to advanced and provides two routes from the starting mount depending on skill level.

Other new additions at Umina Recreation Area include a skate play unit, teenager play unit, picnic area irrigation, turfing and tables.

There'll also be some barbecues installed at the picnic area early this year.

Next month (February), the new viewing platform and amenities conversion will be completed. The viewing platform will allow views up and down the beach and the amenities will be combined into one block and cater for male, female and disabled people.

The next stage following this will be a multi-purpose hardcourt, extended skate park and landscaping around the surf club.
