More adult courses than ever

More adult education courses than ever are being offered on the Peninsulas this term.

The Central Coast Community College is offering 13 courses, while Kincumber Adult and Community Education Centre is offering two.

Seven computer courses are being offered by the Community College at Ettalong Primary School.

These include general introductory courses about computers and the internet, as well as courses designed specifically for seniors.

The college will also hold four courses at the Woy Woy CWA cottage. They are Calligraphy, Painting with Acrylics, Senior First Aid Certificate and Reading, Writing and Spelling.

A massage course will be held at Umina CWA Hall and a kayaking course will be held at Patonga Creek.

For more information, contact the Community College on 4348 4300.

The Kincumber Adult and Community Education Centre will also hold two courses at the Woy Woy CWA hall.

The centre will hold eight-week courses in folk art and creative writing at the hall near Fisherman's Wharf.

Both courses start on February 8 with folk art being held from 9.30am to 11.30am and creative writing from 12pm to 2pm.

Folk art tutor Marie Pilon said anybody could do folk art.

"It is simply a matter of learning a few simple strokes.

"Your home will never be the same again," she said.

Creative writing tutor Hugh Roberts said the course was an opportunity for patrons to hear and comment constructively on each other's work with the aim of getting writers published within the year.

The folk art course costs $75 or $71 concession and creative writing $74 or $70 concession.

A concession can be obtained on presentation of a Pension Card, Seniors Card, Unemployment Card, Health Care Card or full-time student card.

There are also further discounts for those doing a further course in subsequent terms.

Kincumber Adult and Community Education is a non-profit, community-managed organisation, supported by recurrent funding from the NSW Board of Adult and Community Education.
