Seniors school offers varied courses

This year, the Peninsula School for Seniors is offering tutored classes in local history and current events, and art and crafts, as well as holding discussion groups, regular bushwalking sessions, bus trips and other social activities.

Based at Peninsula Community Centre in McMasters Rd, Woy Woy, the school is designed for those in the over-45 age bracket and is now in its 12th year.

School for Seniors stalwart Rhonda Mitchell said the group was a great ice-breaker for newcomers to the Peninsula, as well as a social outlet for more isolated senior community members.

"When we first moved to the area I was feeling quite lonely.

"I found the School for Seniors and was able to meet many new friends and share time with people in my own age group and with common interests," she said.

The School's first "Have a Chat" meeting for the year will be held on Tuesday, February 6, at 10am and will be open to all.

"Come along and see what all the fun is about," said Rhonda
