Season starts at Everglades

One season ends and another is due to start with the club fours at Everglades Country Club this month.

The match committee is delighted with response to this early competition and indeed with the number of entries for the major singles which will get under way next month.

Pennant trials are continuing with only two sessions due before the season starts on February 10.

Chairman of selectors, Mr Stan Martin, said his committee continued to fine-tune the gradings with the final teams to be announced at a pennant players get-together on February 5.

Meanwhile, a valuable trial was held with Woy Woy Bowling Club between two grades.

Woy Woy won their home fixture two rinks to one with Everglades returning the favour winning 2-1 at Everglades.

The Everglades bowlers enjoyed the experience of playing on the artificial surface at Woy Woy although some said they struggled to find the weight in the strong wind.

Also, Thursday mixed mufti bowls has begun again for the year.

This event has proved popular with local bowlers.
