Consider applying for Seniors Festival grant, says Tesch
Local organisations should consider applying for grants of up to $10,000 to get older people out and about during this year's NSW Seniors Festival, according to Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch.
"I urge all community organisations to think about applying," she said.
"Each year the festival provides hundreds of free and discounted programs and activities to seniors across NSW.
"Applications can be for small scale projects or larger activities, so there's room for everyone.
"We want to make sure older people are treated to a diverse selection of activities such as art, sport, music, technology, travel, recreation, and health.
"We know connection is so important as we age, and the NSW Seniors Festival is a great way to encourage seniors to get out and meet like-minded friends in their communities, while participating in the various activities on offer.
"The NSW Seniors Festival Grants program provides $200,000 in funding for community programs and activities that enable older Australians to remain active, healthy, and engaged during the festival.
"The largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere, the NSW Seniors Festival celebrates the role and contributions of older Australians to our community, running from March 11-24 next year.
Applications for grants are open until August 28.
