Banksias replanted in Melbourne Ave
A row of banksias on Melbourne Ave, Umina, is a step closer to recovery today with the replanting of several mature trees damaged by recent vandalism.
Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch and Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid helped plant a mature banksia tree, one of several providing shade and shelter to classrooms and parents at school pickup.
Ms Tesch said: "It's a real delight to see these beautiful banksias on Melbourne Avenue recovering, thanks to the generosity of the school community, community groups like Grow Urban Shade Trees, The Men's Shed and numerous local businesses.
She said members of the wider school community had been caring for the cluster of mature banksias on Melbourne Ave since their planting in 2020.
Three banksias were replanted at the school on Schools Tree Day.
Dr Reid said: "It is always a pleasure to visit my former primary school, and it was great to help students, teachers, and parents, plant trees to mark National Tree Day for 2023."
