Photography students make pin-hole camera
Year 9 photography students at Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina Campus have been studying the evolution of the printed image this term.
As part of their studies, students constructed a traditional pin-hole camera out of cardboard to give them a sense of the origins of photography and an appreciation for how the practice and art form has developed since its inception.
"Students were amazed that they were able to capture an image using a cardboard box and photographic paper," said acting campus principal Mr Adam Montgomery.
"Patience was indeed a virtue for this task.
"It required old school technology, innovation, new technologies and some darkroom magic.
"There were no quick fixes for this task and students did an outstanding job," Mr Montgomery said.
