Bowlers celebrate work of their patron
Everglades Men's Bowling Club recently celebrated the work of their patron Frank Pengelly with a friendly club game.
"Frank has been involved with bowls in NSW for 60 years and was awarded an OAM in 1998 for his lifetime of service to lawn bowls," said club publicity officer Mr Brian Dolan.
"Frank and his wife Noelene have lived on the Peninsula for 20 years after living in the southern beaches of Sydney for most of their lives.
"While bowling for Everglades, he was considered our best coach and he has managed many of our senior pennant sides.
"Frank does not actively bowl now, but still visits the club as often as he can to keep in touch with his friends.
"After nearly 40 bowlers battled for supremacy, Paul Trigg, Bill Vincent and Col Hopping won the day," Mr Dolan said.
