Selected to play in country tournament
Woy Woy Lions Junior Rugby Union Club has had a successful representative season, according to under-12s representative coach Mr Billy MacLean.
A total of 24 boys were chosen for the Central Coast Junior Rugby teams.
The boys will play in both Country and State Championships with an unprecedented 10 players from the club chosen in the under-12s.
"The club is in a strong position for the future with so many representative players coming through," said Mr MacLean.
The teams played at various locations throughout NSW including Tamworth, Orange, Camden and Lismore.
"All the boys had a great experience at both championship tournaments and enjoyed their time in camp and on tour," he said.
After the Country Championships, seven players were chosen across all eligible age groups to play for NSW Country.
They were Tyrone Fleming and Patrick Hines in the under-18s, Damien Fleming in the under-16s, Lapana Vitale in the under-15s and William Jones, Colin McAlpine and Joshua Thorndyke in the under-14s.
Damien Fleming was also in the Rising Gold team which was run by the Australian Rugby Union for junior Wallabies.
"Lions are coming second on the Club Championship ladder and all teams are on target to make the semi finals starting at the end of the month," said Mr MacLean.
