Brief issued for Umina masterplan
Gosford Council has issued a brief to consultants ahead of calling for tenders for a masterplan for the Umina commercial area.
The plan will result from one of two studies being commissioned by Gosford Council, following its adoption of its new draft Local Environment Plan.
The aim of the masterplan is to provide a focal point for the town centre.
The other study is expected to result in a "Umina Beach Village Centre Transport Management and Accessibility Plan".
This would provide safe and integrated pedestrian, cycle and vehicle routes and parking for the operation of the retail centre.
Council's acting director of environment and planning Mr Gary Chestnut said: "Council is looking at the future of this village to see whether or not there is an opportunity for the creation of a civic focal point and to enable public open space access and the potential for the commercial centre."
Mr Chestnut said the planning is hoped to start in December or January and extensive community consultation will take place.
"Within the consultancies brief for both studies there is an objective to encourage community interest, to ensure council has a full understanding of local needs," he said.
