Money raised for Childflight
Woy Woy Bowling Club has raised over $1150 for Childflight, a helicopter service for sick children, through its monthly fundraising bowls day on Sunday, July 17.
The club's Childflight Day coordinator Mr Ken Dixon said he was happy with the result.
"This is on top of the $12,000 we presented to Childflight for last financial year," he said.
"Thanks to Ken Poole who did a great job in the office and managed to get the bowlers on to the greens with a minimum of fuss.
"Our friends from Taree Railway Bowling Club were in attendance and managed to retain the KOB Finger trophy.
"Sid Vandine and the Taree boys had another strong win," he said.
"Paul Baylis from Childflight was in attendance to receive our cheque for $12,000.
"Paul spoke of Childflight's appreciation of our fundraising activities and mentioned that it now costs in the order of $10,000 to put a helicopter in the air for each rescue mission," said Mr Dixon.
The fundraising day is normally held on the third Sunday of the month, with all proceeds going to Childflight.
The next Childflight Bowls Day will be held on Sunday, September 18.
