Storytime in the park
Umina Oval will host the fifth "start reading" project, Storytime in the Park, from 10am to 12:30pm on Tuesday, August 23, with this year's theme One World Many Stories.
Storytime in the Park will be run by local community members, community services and businesses, with funding from Gosford Council.
Families with babies and children under five years are invited to come along to the free event.
"Around 25 community members will be reading stories and setting up play activities," said Ms Debbie Notara.of the Start Reading Project.
"Peninsula Family Day Care and Coastwide Child and Family Services supported playgroups are also providing crafts on the day with a multicultural theme.
"Peninsula families always show great support of reading by joining in an opportunity to celebrate with their kids.
"Families can come down with a rug and move around the various reading stations where different stories will be performed.
"Some stories will be sung and some have movements for the children to do.
"There will be Indigenous, Spanish, French, Italian and Filipino, African and Aussie storytelling stations.
"Families can then stay and have a picnic lunch," said Ms Notara.
