Theatre production workshop

Woy Woy Little Theatre is inviting people who are interested in the technical side of theatre making to come behind the curtains and experience first hand the magic of creating great theatre.

Derek Simpson, until recently production manager of the Bristol Old Vic, England, is bringing his expertise to the Peninsula Theatre with an exciting weekend of theatrical workshops sponsored by Woy Woy Little Theatre.

Working with a script, Derek will illustrate how the magic of theatre can be achieved through the design processes of technical production.

"We will explore the journey made by designers, technicians and their crew to fully realise the potential of a production and prepare it for the opening night and beyond," he said.

Derek has had extensive experience in professional theatre throughout the UK.

During 25 years in the industry, he has worked variously as production manager, stage manager and designer for over 200 productions.

He hopes participants in the workshops will not only acquire new skills, but be inspired to become actively involved in local theatre.

The workshops will be held at the Peninsula Theatre on May 15 and 16 from 10am to 4pm.

The cost is $25 or $20 concession.
