Rock band qualifies

Brisbane Water Secondary College alternate rock band "For The Moment" has succeeded in qualifying for the Youth Rock competition with their first entry into the tournaments.

The Youth Rock competition, a NSW Department of Education and Training sponsored initiative run during Youth Week, is open to more than 700 schools across NSW.

The committee supervising the event selects 40 bands to compete in the finals.

The 40 bands then compete to enter the finals in four heats at a time.

The band had been rehearsing after school to practice in the finals and had sent in two original songs by video tape to the selection committee.

The band, which was formed last year, consists of vocalist and guitarist Toby Priddle-Malm, bass guitarist Billy Burgess and backup vocalist and drummer Tyler Bennison.
