College hosts Japanese visit
Students at Brisbane Water Secondary College recently hosted 17 students and a teacher from Hakata Girls High School in Japan.
Principal Mr Pat Lewis said it was a yearly event which was eagerly anticipated by students.
"It is part of the college's values education program, fostering international understanding, friendship, tolerance and respect.
"At the same time, students studying Japanese get the opportunity to practice their spoken skills with native speakers while the visitors practice their English.
"The Japanese students were billeted by students and their families and, as always, friendships were quickly established."
While at the college, the visiting students attended several classes, learned to play cricket, and visited local beaches, Erina Fair and the reptile park.
The visit also included a school disco in the senior campus hall and a farewell barbecue.
"Contact will no doubt continue well into the future via correspondence."
