Bush block would provide open space
The bushland block on the corner of Veron Rd and Hillview St in Woy Woy is the sort of site Council was looking to buy some months ago to provide open space for the expanding population on the Peninsula.
This site met the needs identified in the CP31 review of residents wanting passive recreation space, such as being able to walk through bushland and along waterways.
As a result of that review, Council proposed to buy private houses that adjoined parkland. However because this proposal attracted widespread opposition from these homeowners, the proposal was scrapped.
Despite this, privately-owned land that is suitable and available should be bought for open space. In fact with the increasing population on the Peninsular it is essential.
This block would be a good choice, with the advantages of being flat and easily accessible, as well as being the last bushland on the Peninsula with substantial stands of grass trees.
