Golf course work continues

Landscaping work is continuing on Everglades golf course.

The shaping of the mounding to the right of the 11th fairway, which was recommended by the "Out of Bounds" committee, will be the responsibility of the green supervisor through the green committee.

The board has approved the purchase of a Verti Drain and a Topdresser, these should now be available.

With the acquisition of this equipment the scheduled green renovation week will not be necessary.

The mounds to the right of the seventh fairway are to be turfed to a higher level on the boundary fence side.

The green at the practice chipping area is to be surfaced to a standard which will give a better indication of ball behaviour.

It may also be good enough to use as a practice putting green for players starting at the 10th hole.

The paperbark trees to the left of the seventh tee are to be thinned to promote growth of grass on the tee.

Turf is to be removed from the now-redundant area of the seventh tee and will be used for tee renovation.

The area will become a low maintenance native shrubbery.

The area at the rear of the 12th tee, which has been cleared of soil fill, will become part of a native garden to be formed on both sides of the pathway leading from the 10th green to the 11th tee.

Disc distance markers are to be placed in the center of each par 4 and par 5 holes to indicate 100, 150, and 200 metre distances from the centre of the respective greens.
