Swans hold family fun day
The Woy Woy Swans Australian Football Club had a charity family fun day on Sunday, June 8.
It was estimated that 200 or more people attended in good weather.
The day started at 10:30am and did not finish until dark.
The success of the day was such that plans are being made to make the day an annual event.
The day started with a junior Auskick game, followed by a main match of the day.
Many old faces turned up to put on the boots for a past against present players' match.
The teams played four 10-minute quarters with a half-hour break at half time.
Some of the old boys, or "Legend's" as they prefer to be called, even wore their original jerseys. Some people had travelled from Melbourne and Queensland for the event.
Club secretary Belinda Campbell said: "Thanks to Glen Beazley for rounding up the 'Legends', it was a great success.
"After the main game, there was a parents against under-14s game, egg and spoon races and lots of fun.
"On the day, the Swans held a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, including Peninsula Budget Meats, Umina Discount Base, Umina Tobacconist and Subway Woy Woy.
The major prize was a dinner for two at The New Bayview Hotel at Woy Woy.
Woy Woy McDonalds donated Encouragement Awards.
Some of the club members baked cakes and slices to sell on the day.
"A percentage of the proceeds from the day will be donated to a local charity," Belinda said.
The next social activity being planned is a trivia night, on a date to be decided.
Next home game is against Cardiff on Saturday, June 21, at 11:45am in Rogers Park, Ocean Beach Rd, Woy Woy.
