James to attend New York conference

Brisbane Water Secondary College (BWSC) Woy Woy campus student, James Phelps, has been selected to attend the 2003 National Student Council Conference to be held in Buffalo, New York, from June 21 to July 20.

Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, has presented BWSC with cheques totalling $1000 to assist in the fundraising efforts of students attending this and next year's events.

Lauren O'Hara from the school was to go as well this year but has had to postpone until next year.

The 30-day tour affords participants the opportunity to travel with other student leaders from various states of Australia to attend a conference of 2000 Student Representatives Council members.

"This is a great opportunity for James in representing his school and I know he is looking forward to meeting fellow student leaders from the Asian Pacific and North American regions," Ms Andrews said.
