Electrical apprentices receive certificates
A group of young electrical apprentices have been presented with graduation certificates on completion of their pre-employment training at Umina.
NSW Minister for Commerce and Minister for the Central Coast, Mr John Delia Bosca, made the presentation.
"These 17 apprentices have been trained over eight weeks by Electro Group Training, a not-for-profit company part-funded by the New South Wales government," Mr Delia Bosca said.
"Following their pre-employment training, the majority have secured apprenticeships with Star Electrical and will work on the State Government's $200 million upgrade of Gosford and Wyong Hospitals.
"Electro Group Training has made these young people 'job ready', with the skills they need to be placed with host employers.
"During the last eight weeks, they have received occupational health and safety training, the WorkCover induction green card, mathematics for the electrical trades, skills to assist in the installation of electrical equipment and four trade-based modules which give students advanced standing in their trade course."
The Minister presented certificates to 17 apprentices, including two women, at the Umina Surf Club, where the group has been trained.
Electro Group has now trained approximately 1400 apprentices over the past nine years and has further vacancies on the Central Coast.
