Aquatic centre on schedule

The new Woy Woy Regional Aquatic Centre development project is on schedule despite recent rain.

At the end of May, the demolition of the old facilities was almost complete and clearance of the site had commenced in line with DA approval.

Clearance of the site involved removal of several established trees including a blackbutt tree synonymous with the old Woy Woy Pool.

Rot discoloration of timber resulting from past limb breakages made the wood unsuitable for commercial purposes.

The timber will be recycled and used for landscaping the new facilities.

The new Regional Aquatic Centre, which will open late next year, will offer residents a range of facilities including upgraded swimming facilities.

The heated, indoor Olympic standard pool will have a state of the art technology water filtration and treatment system.

New grandstands and facilities will enable the Central Coast to host regional and school swimming carnivals, water polo competitions, and national and state championships.
