Rescued from rock face

A 38-year-old man and his dog were rescued from a rock face near Pearl Beach on Sunday, June 8, after being stranded for almost 12 hours.

Woy Woy Police were contacted by a friend of the Pearl Beach man at 4.10pm after they became separated during a walk from Patonga.

A command post was established at the end of Green Point Ave at Pearl Beach and a search commenced.

Shortly before 6pm, officers from the Broken Bay Water Police Shark Cat located the man and his dog trapped on a rock face above Flathead Beach.

A crew member climbed ashore and found the man cold, wet and dehydrated while "Molly", the golden retriever dog, had suffered cuts to her paws from the rocks.

Ambulance officers reached the man about 7.15pm and treated him for hypothermia.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was able to airlift the man to Umina Oval about 11pm while ambulance officers and Molly made their way to safety on foot.

The man was reunited with his dog at 11.45pm
