New ownership for bowling club

Woy Woy Bowling Club is expected to continue operating under new ownership and management.

An agreement was struck between a local business syndicate, Ettalong Beach Memorial Club, and St George Bank allowing the club to continue operating.

The agreement put paid to the expected closure of Woy Woy Bowling Club on Monday, June 9.

The agreement came in the wake of unsuccessful rescue offers from Woy Woy Leagues Club and a Sydney-based club.

Negotiations between the parties are being finalised.

The club's acting secretary-manager Mr John Bourne said: "I'm pretty sure that negotiations will be successful.

"Only the dotting of 'i's and the legal side remain to be dealt with."

Mr Bourne said that the local business syndicate met fully the club's financial commitment to the bank and the Ettalong Beach Memorial Club will commence managing it officially on July 1.

Ettalong Beach Memorial Club general manager Mr Peter Hale was unavailable for comment.
