Dance company forms here

A contemporary dance company called Cuneo dance company has formed on the Peninsula.

The company is currently in rehearsals for the premiere of a new work titled "Sleek".

Artistic director and choreographer, Ms Michelle Cuneo, said: "Cuneo is a young, vibrant and exciting company of highly trained contemporary dancers.

"Locally trained dancers come of age in this exciting company that mixes overseas performers with dancers from the Coast and Sydney.

"I oversaw extensive auditions to find just the right mix of dancers capable of pulling off the emotionally charged choreography."

Many of the performers are graduates of the Bachelor of Arts dance courses at the University of Western Sydney and the University of NSW while lead soloist, Martin Pinzik, has performed with a number of European based companies before joining the locally based venture.

Dancer Amanda Miller has recently been awarded an Arts Council Grant to pursue her artistic development.
