Blue Swimmers welcome winter
Umina Blue Swimmer Men's Winter Swimming Club is about to embark on a new swimming season.
While the summer is drawing to a close and most people are putting away to sunscreen and the beach umbrella, this group of swimmers is making ready costumes, goggles and rubber caps
Accorging to club secretary, Mr Graham Tangye, the Blue Swimmers believe that when the temperature drops below normal levels, it's a good reason to go for an early morning swim.
The group has members aged as young as 10 and there is no upper age limit.
They meet every Sunday morning from May to September at the Pearl Beach rock pool at 9am.
There are handicapped raceswhich "are guaranteed to clear the head and give you an appetite for hot soup and breakfast that follows".
Mr Tangye said: "If you're lying in bed with a coffee and a paper on a Sunday, come down to the pool for something of a change, as new members are welcome.
