No new bus shelters are planned
A Woy Woy resident has been told that no new bus shelters are planned in coming years, because its budget was allocated to maintenance and disability compliance
A petition with more than 90 signatures had been sent to Gosford Council by residents of Woy Woy for a bus shelter to be installed in Hillview St near the corner of Nambucca Ave.
Local resident Mr Wayne Iles said he had been trying to have a bus shelter installed in the street for three years
He said he had written to Gosford Council regarding his concerns for people using the bus stop, some of which included elderly people, mothers with prams and people with disabilities.
"There is nowhere to escape the rain and very hot weather," Mr Iles said.
Council replied to Mr Iles and said there would be no new Council funded bus shelters installed in the coming years.
The council was currently prioritising bus facility works based on maintenance of existing bus shelters due to safety issues and the Disability Discrimination Act for Transport Stops.
This did not include the placement of shelters or seats, he was told.
