Maths review at Umina
A number of teachers from Umina Public School, including deputy principal Mr Paul Farrugia, will undertake an evaluation over the coming weeks as part of the school's mathematics review.
The school is presently in the third year of review of mathematics teaching and learning across all years.
"This review will help us better plan learning activities and improve the children's understanding," said Mr Farrugia.
"As part of this process we will be talking to randomly-selected students, teachers and caregivers during the next few weeks, analysing the results and planning the way ahead for the next three years.
"The evaluation will be conducted by several teachers and will be led by myself.
"Groups of students will discuss the maths learning with the team.
"Teachers will provide their thoughts by way of discussion and selected parents will be contacted by phone to seek their opinions.
"Information collected this year will be compared and collated with data collected in 2011 and 2012."
