Little Shop at Little Theatre

Little Shop of Horrors is being performed this week at Peninsula Little Theatre.

The musical is a fast-paced 60's rock-n-roll, sci-fi, black comedy, based on the cult 1960 film starring Jack Nicholson.

The story revolves around a skid-row florist's assistant who is going nowhere until he finds an exotic new breed of plant.

This fly trap doesn't feed off mulch or water. It feeds on blood.

Starring as the luckless hero Seymour is Anthony Howes who was a soldier at Old Sydney Town and has appeared in Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing" and Gosford Musical Society's wildly successful "Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum".

Also in "Forum" was Callum Hayes now bringing to life the blackmailing florist Mushnik whose greedy ways bring amusing consequences.

Callum has also appeared in "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" and played Ritchie Cunningham in the Kantara House production of "Happy Daze".

Andrew Browne stars as a masochistic dentist and Seymour's rival for Audrey's love.

Andrew has appeared in "Romeo and Juliet" with the Central Coast Shakespeare Company and appeared in several films in 2002's Quick Flicks Central Coast Short Film Festival.

Breathing sensual life into skid row's vixen of a femme fatale Audrey is relative theatre newcomer Carlotta Chadwick.

Carlotta's voice has recently earned her a "Dance" recording contract with Central Station Records.

The show's ongoing narration features a Greek-style chorus resembling Diana Ross and the Supremes with Michelle Walls, Karen Swift and Kylee Cichra.

Also starring Tim Wilde, a theatre sports and dinner theatre regular and Lauren McKellar as the ensemble and Jonathon Sebastian, a Gosford Musical Society regular as the voice of the plant, Audrey II.

The performance is produced by the Eclectic Performing Arts Alliance, helmed by Kantara House directing maestro Todd Keys.

Tickets are available through Voyager Music stores located in Gosford 4321 1877 and Laycock Street Theatre Box Office 4323 3233.

Limited tickets will also be available at the door for each performance.
