Obituary: James Drysdale

James Drysdale passed away on Monday February 17 after a long battle with cancer aged 57.

James was well known on the Central Coast and particularly on the Peninsula, where he had been a partner in Tonkin Drysdale Partners, solicitors for over 20 years.

James was originally admitted as a solicitor in Victoria in 1968 and moved to the New South Wales Central Coast in 1980.

James was well respected and regarded by his many clients for his knowledgeable and compassionate advice.

James was a long-standing member of the Ettalong-Umina Lions Club achieving some of the highest positions in the Lions organisation as chairman and secretary at zone and district levels.

James was a director of Peninsula Village and was a strong supporter of both the Ocean Beach and Umina Surf Clubs.

As honorary solicitor to Woy Woy Bowling Club, Woy Woy Aged Care and a number of other sporting and community associations, James was able to provide clear guidance when problems arose.

James was also a regular face at Woy Woy and Umina High Schools presenting scholarships and awards on behalf of his firm.

Always close to his family, this was even more so in recent years when James and his wife Adrienne were called upon to care for his sister prior to her death from cancer.

James lived on the Peninsula and was often seen walking, cycling, paddling his surf ski and tending his gardens

Serious when required, but more often a jovial character, James enjoyed the company of all.

Any barbecue guest arriving with a fine bottle of red wine was always well received and well looked after by both James and Adrienne.

James is survived by his wife Adrienne, his mother Elsie and two daughters Penny and Rebecca.
