Winner takes a break

A Hardys Bay Keno winner is looking forward to taking a break after losing two close friends this year.

Steve Anderson was playing Keno at Ettalong Bowling Club with his brother when he found out he had won a winter escape package to the Gold Coast simply by spending $7 on a seven-number ticket.

It was his brother who encouraged Steve to play Keno after winning $16,000 on the seven-number jackpot.

"I matched six out of seven numbers a couple of weeks ago so I decided to give it another try," said Steve.

"Winning the holiday was a very nice bonus because I haven't had a very good year."

His neighbour passed away recently and he also lost a former partner two months ago.

He said the holiday would be a good chance to get away from it all for a while.

The prize includes a three-night stay at Conrad Jupiters for two people including breakfast each day, two tickets to the lnneuvre show at Jupiters and $500 towards travel or expenses.

Steve usually has a quick-pick but this time he picked his own numbers: 5, 6, 8, 14, 18, 21 and 62.

Even though he won his holiday by a random pick throughout the State, he feels the numbers were lucky for him.

They included numbers from his birth date and those of his neighbour who passed away.

"I've never won anything in my life before," said Steve.

"I'm going to plan my trip soon because it will be good to get away."
